Dylan and Cole Sprouse, the stars of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “The Suite Life On Deck” are heading to their first year in college. I am so proud of them! I feel like my own kids are leaving “The Dray” nest.
School or show business? Do you have to make a choice? Dylan and Cole Sprouse didn’t… they chose to do both. Additionally, Tia and Tamera Mowry (“Sister Sister”, “Twitches”), Natalie Portman, Brooke Shields and Adam Sandler chose to continue their higher education and all have graduated with a college degree. So, school or show business? The answer is simple, do both!
When tweens and teens are working on a tv show, a movie or traveling on tour, their education does not cease. They are provided with a classroom setting and a teacher. School on set is mandatory. They attend a certain number of hours in the classroom, have homework, take tests, and upon completion of the required coursework of their respective states, will graduate with regular high school diplomas. Many continue their education by going to college. Tim Allen, Oprah, Carrie Underwood and MIA are a few more examples of celebrities who have attained a degree before, during or after their “show business life.”
As the Executive Producer of many tv shows that starred kids, I, along with their parents, made sure all my Dray kids had good teachers as well as enough time off set for schoolwork. And as the saying goes, you need something to fall back on.
So remember you, along with “Zack and Cody” can enroll in the University of Show Business!
