This past weekend the producers of “The Kings of Appletown” were in Sag Harbor to promote the release of the new movie, which features the 17-year-old twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse known from “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”.
The reason for choosing to screen the movie in Sag Harbor doesn’t only lie in the wish to promote the movie to a smaller crowd but also because, as the producer Mr. Reilly puts it, “with a box-office hit expected and comparisons being made to the success of the Jonas Brothers, the three filmmakers want to continue working with the twins, and that next project or a different one could be lensed in Sag Harbor and partially financed by local investors.”
He then continues on to say, “We’re looking at specific sites in and around Sag Harbor and thinking about how we can shoot here. The time of year and the local environment will play a major role.”
Residents of Sag Habor will have flashbacks to 1985 when Sag Harbor and its surroundings were used as the setting for “Sweet Liberty,” The movie which stared Michael Caine, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bob Hoskins, and Lillian Gish.
While Sag Harbor officials have not yet been contacted, about making a movie in the village, Mr. Reilly says that they have “had conversations with a few of the local business people and several people in the industry who live in the area”.
So if you live in or near Sag Harbor, you might soon get a glimpse of the most popular twins on the tube at the moment.

I talked to the director and producer at the screening. The next film will be based on the story of Cyrano De Bergerac.
